We are thankful for the freedom to have choices in education in our country. This week we are reflecting on why we love Judson.
Judson is celebrating National School Choice Week January 22-26! NSCW is a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort that was begun in 2011. As a private Christian school, Judson is very thankful to have the freedom to provide a unique, creative, internationally focused Christian education to our Pasadena community and beyond. We went around and asked our students why they loved Judson. Students had so many great responses such as field trips, science, friends, teachers, family nights, Christian focus, friendly atmosphere and more. Our Judson students put their thoughts on paper and we have posted these around school for you to enjoy. We also thought you would enjoy this gallery of their responses.
We also made a video of their responses entitled Lots of Reasons and posted it on out Judson YouTube channel. Check it out!
Our students and staff have been busy with a variety of Christmas outreaches and activities.
"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given"
Our annual Christmas Tree Lighting Service will be this Thursday, December 7 from 5:30 - 6:30 pm. Join us for carols, a live nativity and hot cocoa and treats! We will also be having our annual Christmas Chapel on Wednesday, December 20 at 1 pm in our auditorium. Parents and friends are welcome!
Christmas is a time for giving and celebrating at Judson School. Our students and staff have already been involved in a variety of outreaches to our community and beyond.
Judson students collected Operation Christmas Child boxes, a ministry of Samaritan's Purse. Each shoebox is filled with toys and surprises which are sent to needy children around the world. Judson also served as a drop off spot for shoeboxes for the wider Pasadena community.
Judson students also made Christmas cards for Desmond who is the child from Sierra Leona that we have sponsored through World Vision for the past six years. These will be sent to him also with a financial gift.
Judson School also made a generous donation to the Cure JM Foundation. Juvenile Myositis (JM) is a group of rare and life-threatening autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system attacks its own cells and tissues. Chris Graves who serves as an aide in our 5th/6th grade classroom is a survivor of this serious but rare disease. His mother, Joyce Graves, also works at Judson as our Director of International Student Services.
For the first time ever, we are holding a Christmas Door Decorating contest in Zwemer by homeroom. Above are the pics of the doors. May the best door win!
Our Spring Musical this year will be The Little Mermaid! Auditions are on December 11 and callbacks are on December 13.
We are pleased to announce that our Spring Musical will be The Little Mermaid. The show will be directed and produced by Miss Maren Plog, Judson's musical theater director. Miss Plog is offering a workshop prior to the auditions to help prepare. The cost is $25 and can be purchased using the button below. Auditions are open to junior high and high school students.
Please consider supporting Judson with an end of the year gift. Our goal is that 100% of our parents, staff and school board participate in giving to our Annual Fund. All gifts are appreciated, no matter how large or small. Together, we support our wonderful school.
The only K-12 program of its kind in Pasadena, with doors open to the world beyond, Judson International School creates servant leaders with problem solving skills. Our goal is to have 100% of our staff, parents, and board participate in giving to our Annual Fund, becoming a Friend of Judson School. We believe that everything a student possesses is a blessing from God. Please join us in making Judson a top philanthropic priority and a part of your ongoing benevolence and support. Your donation is tax deductible and your support now will help Judson create servant leaders for years to come.

Judson International School held its fall Family Night on November 2. The whole Judson School community to gathered and enjoyed seeing the students' hard work. All the classrooms were open and teacher, students, families, and friends attend.
Judson K-8 students presented the history projects they have been working on all fall, based on the time period they are studying in Judson's International Christian Curriculum. Judson's top poetry recitation candidates recited poetry, competing for the top spot to represent Judson at the Los Angeles Poetry Out Loud Competition. The first place winner was Ella Jun, Judson class of 2019. She will compete at the country level in February 2018.
We had a wonderful turn out for our first ever fall BBQ!
The Judson School community had a wonderful Fall BBQ this past weekend on October 20. Families enjoyed a delicious Polynesian BBQ meal, entertainment by our musical theater class, fun games, and worship led by our high school worship team. We had a great turnout of about 150 people! Plans are already in place for doing a Fall BBQ again next year.
Judson seeks to build up our school community through a variety of events throughout the year, including a New Parent Orientation, Fall BBQ, community Thanksgiving potluck, Advent Tree lighting, Christmas worship service, our annual gala, our spring musical, etc.
Stay tuned for details on our next community event which will be our all-school international Thanksgiving potluck. We are glad you are all here.
